Registration:
Though new registrations
are not being encouraged, however as per the procedures, registrations are provided
under two categories:
Relief Category,
Non Relief Category.
Relief Category: The migrants are entitled for cash
assistance and free ration. At the time of migration, the migrants were asked to
submit simple application duly attested by a Gazetted Officer, on the basis of which
registrations were granted. However, it was observed that a number of families who otherwise
were not qualifying for registration obtained such registrations by submitting false
information. The government, on one hand started an exercise to cancel the bogus
registrations and on the other hand constituted a committee under the chairmanship
of Divisional Commissioner,
Jammu
for clearing the registration cases. It was made mandatory to get clearance from
the CID for ascertaining the reasons of the migration.
Non Relief Category:
The migrants are entitled for other facilities other than cash assistance and free
ration. Such registrations are mostly granted to Govt. Employees / PSU Employees
/ Pensioners.
